Position Summary

As an Automotive Detail Technician, you will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and appearance of company and customer vehicles. You will use high-pressure washing equipment, power tools for waxing, and ensure all vehicle inventory is clean and ready for dealership display or customer delivery.

You will report directly to Sales and Service Managers for work assignments and instructions.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Wash and wax cars and trucks efficiently and accurately following manager requests.
  • Perform tasks in accordance with dealership standards.
  • Ensure all vehicle keys are tagged and descriptions match the vehicles.
  • Inspect vehicles to determine if additional safety or service work is required and communicate findings to service advisors or sales managers.
  • Refrain from using customer vehicles for personal errands.
  • Supervise apprentice technicians when assigned.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area and account for all dealership tools.
  • Follow all federal, state, and local regulations, including hazardous waste disposal procedures.

Work Environment

This role requires working indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions. You may be exposed to dust, exhaust fumes, and other materials. Physical demands include lifting items up to 50 pounds and frequent stooping, kneeling, and reaching.

A dealership uniform is required at all times while on duty.

Job Requirements:

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Prior experience as a detail technician is preferred but not required; training will be provided.
  • Strong manual dexterity and attention to detail.
  • Ability to read and understand work instructions and information in electronic or paper formats.
  • Good judgment and reliability.
  • Valid driver’s license with a good driving record.

Working Conditions

  • Typically a 40-hour workweek, five days per week, with occasional overtime and rotating Saturday shifts.
  • Schedules may vary and can be coordinated with management.
  • Exposure to various environmental conditions including temperature changes and hazardous materials.
  • Physical activities include lifting, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, and use of hand and power tools.
